“SNL” pokes fun at some of TikTok’s biggest influencers in a cameo-filled sketch

‘SNL’ spoofed some of TikTok’s biggest trends and creators on the Oct. 19 episode

Saturday night live poked fun at some of TikTok’s biggest trendsetters and influencers.

At the last SNL October 19 episode — presented by Beetlejuice Beetlejuicestar Michael Keaton and with musical guest Billie Eilish: a sketch about doomscrolling on TikTok included parodies of influencers such as Keith Lee, Alex Cooper and Harry Daniels.

The sketch, which was created to look like TikTok’s For You page, opens with a parody of a creator promoting a product on the TikTok store before switching to a parody of Keith Lee’s food reviews . In the clip, Lee (played by Kenan Thompson) reviews a fictitious Atlanta restaurant’s “Hennessy Habanero Fruity Pebbles Chicken Sandwich” in Lee’s iconic review style.

The sketch then switches to a parody of creators like Nara Smith and Gretchen Adler’s cooking videos, titled “Life as a Tradwife.” In the clip, the pregnant “tradona” shares her recipe for “beef tacos,” where she explains that she “killed the cow and picked the corn myself.”

Later, the TikTok feed scrolls to a parody Call her fatherhost Alex Cooper, who presents his latest podcast episode, which includes dating tips and an interview with the Secretary of Homeland Security.

The highlight of the TikTok sketch comes soon after with two parody videos of TikToker Harry Daniels singing Vice President Kamala Harris and former US President Donald Trump. In the first clip, Daniels (played by Bowen Yang) walks up to the Democratic presidential candidate and sings a rendition of Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles,” while Harris (played by Maya Rudolph) replies, “Thank you, that was me singing, “before leaving the frame.

In the second clip, Daniels approaches Trump (played by James Austin Johnson) and sings a rendition of Blink 182’s “I Miss You,” to which he replies, “that was really bad, he didn’t like it at all” before leaving .

The sketch concluded with yet another Daniels skit, where he sings Hayley Williams’ “Airplanes” in SNLBillie Eilish’s musical guest. Before he can get through the whole song, however, Eilish hands him a wad of cash and asks him to “please stop following me.”

Daniels took to TikTok to post her reaction to the parodies on October 20. “I was parodied on SNL until ‘period,'” she wrote of the video, adding, “I’m crying, it was so funny.” In the caption, she also wrote: “so gagged, it’s an honor.”
