Strictly’s Katya and Wynne stand together after ‘tapper’ scandal but can’t crack a smile as they leave rehearsals

The strict combo of Katya Jones and Wynne Evans looked downcast as they headed to rehearsals amid their ‘tapta’ scandal.

The duo have been in the spotlight since Katya removed Wynne’s hand from her belly during Saturday night’s show.

The awkward moment followed the professional dancer declining to high-five Wynne, instead she responded to his beaming smile with an icy stare.

After the two incidents went viral, the duo passed it off as a “joke” gone wrong and insisted there was nothing sinister behind Katya’s icy reactions.

In any case, the fall has overshadowed their success on the dance floor after an impressive performance saw them score 34 points and finish third in the standings.

They were spotted walking side by side down a Welsh residential street today ahead of this weekend’s performance.

Wynne, 52, wore a gray sweater and jeans, while Katya, 35, dressed in a stylish gray trench coat and tossed her Louis Vuitton suitcase behind her.

Monday night BBC Two Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two, Katya insisted the controversy had overshadowed her performance “for no reason”.

He added: “Honestly, I cannot bear to sit here and watch this man be portrayed as someone he is not.

“Actually, it couldn’t be further from the truth.

“So I have to make it absolutely clear that this whole hand and high five incident on Saturday night was an inside joke between Wynne and me.

“Was it a silly joke? yes Was it a bad joke? yes

“However, it was a joke and even the idea that it made me feel uncomfortable or offended in any way is completely nonsense.

“Those of you who have doubts, you are wrong.

“So hopefully this is the end.”

Wynne added: “I’ve looked at it again and I can see how people could have misinterpreted it.”

Controversy is the last thing the beleaguered corporation wanted after a summer of scandal which saw professionals Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima leave the show amid allegations of bad behaviour.

Yesterday, a TV insider said: “I wanted to draw a line at one of the most troubling periods of the show. historywhich made viewers deeply suspicious of what was going on behind the scenes of the show.

“Allegations of physical and sexual misconduct seemed to have taken some of the shine off the dance competition and bosses were keen to restore the sparkle and fun.

“Now there’s this weird incident that seems to suggest some tension between Wynne and Katya, not to mention inappropriate touching.

“The rap on Strictly’s knuckles was casual and there are no plans to take any further action against them.

“But ultimately, in the midst of all the controversy, viewers are left not quite knowing what to think.”

Behind the scenes, Beeb bosses are said to be furious about the incident, but appear to believe Katya and Wynne’s explanation that it was a gag they were complicit in.

On Sunday, Katya and Wynne made a joint video online in which they apologized for what happened.

During it, Katya said: “We were just playing in the Clauditori and we just want to apologize.”
