Applying for FIRS recruitment: a step-by-step guide

In its announcement, FIRS called for vigilance against fraudulent recruitment schemes, stressing that only applications submitted through the official portal will be considered.

Abuja, Nigeria – The Federal Internal Revenue Service (FIRS) has announced the commencement of its recruitment for the posts of Revenue Officer with the opening of applications at 12:00 PM on 2nd November.

The tax authority is recruiting for Officer I and Officer II positions in eight states in Nigeria targeting Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, Ekiti, Lagos and Oyo.

FIRS’s official notification, shared on social media platform X on Friday, highlighted its commitment to inclusive employment. “Women, minorities and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply,” the post said.

Applicants should be aware that although the positions are initially based in the states listed, successful candidates may be required to work at any FIRS location across the country.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Age limit: Applicants must be 27 years of age or younger by December 31, 2024.
  • Completion of NYSC: Candidates must have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program by December 31, 2021.
  • Educational context: Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least First Class or Second Class Upper Division in relevant fields including accountancy, actuarial science, business information systems, computer engineering, economics, law , mathematics and statistics; among others.
  • Additional Qualifications: A master’s degree and professional certifications (such as ICAN, ACCA, ANAN, COREN, NSE) will be an advantage.

Application process and deadline

Candidates must submit their applications through the official portal at www.firs.gov.ng/careers, with the deadline set for November 14, 2024. FIRS advises applicants to submit only one application for their preferred location as multiple entries will not be permitted.

The recruitment process will involve several stages of assessment and only selected candidates will be contacted for aptitude tests, interviews and medical examinations.

In its announcement, the agency urged caution against fraudulent recruitment schemes, stressing that only applications submitted through the official portal will be considered.
