Police are searching for an armed robbery suspect in Southeast Portland, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The unknown suspect, who allegedly robbed a person at gunpoint in the 4500 block of Southeast 122nd Avenue around 1:43 p.m. Tuesday, ran from officers, prompting police to set up a perimeter to contain him.

Officers are searching from 124th to 128th avenues and from Harold Avenue to Reedway Avenue, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Portland Police’s Special Emergency Response Team and Crisis Negotiation Team joined the operation shortly before 4 p.m.

Some Alice Ott Middle School students who live in the perimeter remain at school and their parents have been notified, police said. The office added that “at least one residence” in the perimeter was evacuated.

Residents in the area were notified of the situation through the city’s Public Alert system.
