Pakistan secured a place in the semi-finals of the 2024-25 Hong Kong Sixes after a convincing win over South Africa in the quarter-finals.

Pakistan set a challenging target of 106 runs with key performances from Mohammad Akhlaq and Hussain Talat. Akhlaq scored an explosive 53 runs from just 16 balls, while Talat contributed 27 runs from 11 balls, propelling Pakistan to a formidable total.

In reply, South Africa struggled to keep up with the required run rate and fell short, managing just 88 runs. Pakistan’s strong bowling and fielding efforts helped limit the South African side, sealing their place in the semi-finals of the tournament.

A day earlier, Pakistan defeated India by six wickets and reached the target in five overs without any loss with Asif Ali’s brilliant innings of 55 runs.

India posted a strong total of 119 for the loss of two wickets with outstanding performances from Ruben Uthappa and Chipley. Uthappa contributed 31 runs while Chipley led the charge with an explosive 53 runs.

Pakistan’s Faheem Ashraf was the key bowler for his side, taking both India’s wickets.
