Unregistered nurse faces 19 charges in local fraud cases

Police say Tiny Township woman falsified documents to get job at Simcoe County nursing facilities

An unregistered nurse from Tiny Township is facing 19 charges in connection with identity fraud at health care facilities in Simcoe County.

Between September 2020 and April 2024, police say the accused gained employment as a nursing assistant at numerous health care facilities, including long-term care homes, despite not being registered or qualified to practice nursing.

“In order to obtain employment, the individual falsified employment applications, certificates, resumes, reference checks and police checks, changing their names to resemble active nurses of good standing,” Huronia West OPP said in a press release.

The accused “performed full nursing duties” between 2020 and 2024.

On October 24, the woman surrendered to the police.

Hailey Roberts, 33, was charged with identity fraud (five counts), use, dealing, acting on a false document (six counts), obtaining by false pretense – over (four counts of indictment), obtaining by false pretense – under and assault with a weapon (three counts).

She was held for a bail hearing in Barrie.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.
