San Francisco Gas Leak – NBC Bay Area

San Francisco Gas Leak – NBC Bay Area

A gas leak reported Tuesday morning near Zuckerberg General Hospital in San Francisco was caused by a crew hitting a 2-inch line, PG&E said.

The San Francisco Fire Department initially issued an alert shortly before 10 a.m. about the gas leak in the area of 25th and Hampshire streets.

A third-party crew not employed by or contracted to PG&E arrived on the line, and PG&E crews responded to stop the leak before making repairs, said Tamar Sarkissian, a spokeswoman for the utility.

The public is advised to avoid the area while the emergency response is underway.
