In his confessional, Mykelti explains that after Avalon, “I ate a piece of it raw and then they turned another piece into a smoothie. I actually have a picture on my phone of my placenta and you can see the bite mark I have got out of it.”

The producers then asked the other mothers about their views on the placenta in separate confessionals. Although Meri Brown says she would “in no way, shape, or form” eat a placenta, Christine Brown admits, “I so wish I had known about eating your placenta.” She adds: “I would have done it in a heartbeat.”

Robyn then reveals in her confessional, “I’m going to crash you all. I was the first to do it.”

“It was something my midwife suggested and I just thought I’d give it a try,” she continues, explaining that it helped her dramatically with postpartum depression.
