Man arrested after multiple drugs found during traffic stop

Temple, Texas (FOX 44) – Bail has been set at $150,000 for a 35-year-old Temple man arrested after multiple drugs were found in a car following a traffic stop.

Dwayne Avon Jones remained in the Bell County Jail Thursday.

Jones was initially arrested for possession, then some time after the incident after police obtained warrants for a first-degree felony charge.

Temple police said Jones was identified as the driver of the car that was pulled over Sept. 9 at 4:25 p.m. at South 1st Street and Avenue R after a license plate check indicated unconfirmed insurance on the vehicle.

Arrest made in multi-county pursuit

Officers approached the vehicle and detected the odor of marijuana coming from it. Officers searched the vehicle and found marijuana, cocaine, unidentified pills, unidentified THC narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Police said Jones gave a statement about knowing marijuana and cocaine were in the vehicle.

Jail records indicated the newest charge was manufacture or delivery of a group 1 controlled substance.
