Hannah Roberts: Prolific shoplifter banned from wearing wigs after Gloucester steals soda

A prolific shoplifter has been banned from wearing wigs after using them to disguise himself while shoplifting in Gloucester, police said.

Hannah Roberts, 33, wore a variety of hairdos after being banned from certain shops in Gloucester city centre.

Roberts, of Nettleton Road, was banned from entering shops which were part of Gloucester’s City Safe Scheme but had repeatedly ignored the ban.

As well as becoming abusive or running off with stolen goods if challenged by staff, she also wore wigs to disguise herself, Gloucestershire Constabulary said.

But she has a large and distinctive tattoo on her neck that makes her easily recognizable.

Earlier this month, Cheltenham The tribunal handed him a criminal behavior order (CBO) banning him from entering the town center as well as any shops in the scheme.

She is also prohibited from wearing a wig or hair designed to alter her appearance when entering any retail space.

Constable Andy Plant, of Gloucestershire Police said: “Our retail industry is suffering at the hands of these persistent thieves.

“Roberts has been a major theft offender in recent months and we now have another tool to deal with her in the form of this Criminal Behavior Order.

“We will continue to support businesses in and around the town by targeting shoplifters and obtaining further court orders where possible.”

In its latest reported figures, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said theft offenses rose by 30% (to 443,995 offences) for the year to March compared to the previous 12 months (342,428 offences).

Shoplifting “remains at its highest level for 20 years”, the ONS said in July.
