AMD officially announces the next generation AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D at $479

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) announced the (unreleased) Ryzen 7 9800X3D, its newest desktop processor designed to meet the needs of gaming and content creation applications. This processor is based on the Zen 5 architecture and includes eight cores and sixteen threads, offering a good balance between multi-tasking capabilities and the single-thread performance required for various computing tasks. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D has a base speed of 4.7 GHz and can boost up to 5.2 GHz when needed. These clock speeds are the highest achieved in the AMD X3D series, enabling faster processing and better responsiveness. The processor incorporates AMD’s second-generation 3D V-Cache technology, which improves the on-chip memory system. The 64MB cache is positioned below the processor, bringing the complex core die closer to the cooling system. This design helps keep the Zen 5 cores cool, improving thermal management and allowing the processor to maintain high performance during heavy use.

Performance tests show that the Ryzen 7 9800X3D offers an average 8% improvement in gaming performance compared to the Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Additionally, it outperforms the Intel Core Ultra 9 285k by an average of 20% in gaming scenarios. These results indicate that the processor can more efficiently handle demanding games and complex content creation tasks. Additionally, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is AMD’s first X3D processor to be fully unlocked, allowing users and enthusiasts to adjust performance settings. This unlocking feature allows custom performance tuning based on individual needs and system settings.
