A notorious thief has been banned from wearing wigs in an attempt to prevent her from offending. Hannah Roberts used a range of hair items in an attempt to circumvent the shoplifting ban in Gloucester city centre, despite being banned by the City Safe Scheme from all member shops.

The 33-year-old, who often reacted abusively when confronted by staff, is known to have made off with stolen property. Her efforts to avoid detection included changing her appearance with various wigs, but her recognizable neck tattoo often gave her away.

She has now been given a criminal behavior order at Gloucestershire Magistrates’ Court which prevents her from entering the city center or any shops participating in the Gloucester City Safe scheme. Roberts, of Nettleton Road, Gloucester, is also banned from wearing a wig or hair on retail premises.

Constable Andy Plant from Gloucestershire Police remarked: “Our retail industry is suffering because of these persistent thieves. Roberts has been the biggest shoplifting offender for the past few months and now we have another tool to deal with her in the form of this killer. orders of conduct.”

“We will continue to support businesses in and around the town by targeting shoplifters and obtaining further court orders where possible.”
