Colorado football’s Deion Sanders reacts to injury ‘blow’ to Travis Hunter and 3 other WRs

Colorado football came up short against Kansas State on Saturday night, but it also came up short on a few wide receivers. Heisman contender Travis Hunter left the game in the second quarter with a shoulder injury and did not return to the game, but returned to the sideline in the third quarter.

Hunter was just one of four wide receivers injured Saturday night. Jimmy Horn Jr. left the game in the second quarter with an unspecified injury, and Omarion Miller and Terrell Timmons Jr. they also left with injuries. After the game, head coach Deion Sanders addressed the various injuries in the receiving room.

“Of course, losing Travis and Jimmy and others was huge because they’re a vital part of our team, a vital part of our identity,” Sanders said. “They’re a vital part of who we are. So it took a hit. That took a lot out of us.”

Despite the injuries, Colorado football was in the game until the end and even had the lead late in the fourth quarter. Kansas State took the lead with 2:21 left in the quarter with a 50-yard touchdown run. There were a lot of positives the Buffaloes could have taken from this game, and Deion Sanders thinks they should have won.

“Sometimes when you lose in life, you get kicked in the ass and you just have to take it,” Sanders said. “But sometimes you lose and you say, ‘Dang, we should have won that. We should have had that. And that was one of those types of games. That doesn’t take anything away from our opponent, because they played and they’re in the locker room right now celebrating and having a good time. But for us, we feel like we let it go.”
