‘I decided…’: Player reveals why he turned down several clubs to join Chelsea

Brazilian prodigy Estevao Willian is set to join Chelsea next summer in a deal worth around £51million.

The 17-year-old is regarded as one of the best attacking prospects in South America at the moment, and is expected to become a key player for Chelsea in the coming seasons.

Estevao was on the radar of a number of European heavyweights before opting to join Chelsea, and the player has now revealed why he chose to join the Blues over the other clubs. Estevao claims he was impressed with Chelsea’s draft and their plans for him. Apart from that, he was also pleased with the Premier League club’s plans for his family.

The 17-year-old believes Chelsea showed great faith in his ability, and is now looking to repay them with his performances in the coming seasons.

Estevao told the Guardian: “I decided on Chelsea because of their planning. I was very happy with it. Not only for me, but also for my family. It was the club that believed in me and trusted in my work. I hope I can pay for it.”

Estevao could be a key player for Chelsea

Chelsea need more quality and cutting edge in the final third and the 17-year-old could be an important player for them if he can adapt quickly to English football. He has been compared to Lionel Messi due to stylistic similarities and is expected to add pace, style, creativity and goals to the side.

There is no doubt that he has the physical and technical attributes to do well in the Premier League, but he may need some time to adapt to his surroundings before he can reach peak form and show his true worth.

Chelsea have a proven track record of nurturing young players, and they look forward to helping him reach his world-class potential. In recent seasons, they have shown a willingness to invest in talented young players.
