Mahindra Thar Roxx buyers start getting delivery date

As expected, Thar Roxx’s versatility and wide appeal was supported by its super massive bookings and long waiting period.

Earlier this month, Thar Roxx received record 1.76 lakh unit bookings in just one hour. The timing was something to celebrate, but the downside is the long waiting period. While Roxx deliveries have begun, customers at the back of the queue will have to wait a few months.

Roxx waiting period of up to 18 months

According to Mahindra dealers, deliveries of the Roxx are currently limited to the AX5, AX7L and MX5 variants only. Of these, most deliveries are in manual versions. Customers who pre-ordered these variants are getting a tentative delivery date that ranges from late 2024 to early 2025. People who pre-ordered the Roxx 4WD with an ivory interior theme are getting delivery schedules from early to mid-2025.

The waiting period is longer for customers who reserved the Roxx 4WD with mocha brown interior theme. The tentative delivery date for such bookings is between mid-2025 and May 2026. This is a waiting period of up to 18 months. A similar delivery timeline applies to the higher-spec Roxx 2WD with automatic transmission.

How can customers ensure prompt delivery of Roxx?

From now on, Mahindra communicates the delivery schedule directly to the customers. Dealers are currently not informed. When a customer receives such communication, they must inform the dealership about the same. Once the dealer is notified, it will be their responsibility to follow up on the brand and ensure that delivery is made within the communicated time frame.

If the customer does not inform the dealer about the delivery time, the dealer will wait for an official communication from the brand. Once the communication is received, the distributor will inform the customer and wait for his response. If about a week goes by with no response, the next customer in the queue will receive the delivery. To avoid such occurrences, customers should inform the dealer when they receive the delivery time from Mahindra.

Increase in production

To reduce the huge waiting period, Mahindra will increase the production of Roxx. By the end of November, Roxx’s production will increase to around 7,500 units per month. The long wait will eventually get easier, like more deliveries are made in the following months.

Thar 4×4, 4×2 with 3 doors, waiting period up to 3 months

At the time of launch and later, the waiting period for certain variants of the 3-door Thar was usually more than 12 months. As Mahindra has ramped up production and increased deliveries, the waiting period for the 3-door Thar has come down to around 2-3 months.

Thar 4×4 petrol hard-top and top-of-the-line convertibles currently have a waiting period of up to 3 months. In the case of hard-top diesel variants, the waiting period is a little over 2 months. For Thar 4×2, the waiting period for diesel variants is up to 2 months. For petrol variants, the waiting period is just over 2 months.
