Some of Britain could see snow as early as this weekend, according to the latest data from WX Charts.

Snow doesn’t usually fall in the UK until early in the year, but it could come early this year.

Temperatures are expected to drop to freezing in the coming weeks, with snow expected to fall in amounts as large as ‘2cm per hour’ on November 7.

But Halloween weekend could also be snowy, WX Charts predictions suggest.

And as usual, Scotland is likely to bear the brunt of the ice blast, with several regions to be engulfed in snow.

Northern Scotland is likely to be worst affected, with areas such as Wick, Inverness and Aberdeen seeing rates of 1-2cm per hour in the coming weeks.

In fact, a number of Scottish towns have been warned to prepare for a 150-mile blast of snow that could hit this weekend.

Areas in the firing line are believed to be Talmine, Tongue, Lairg, Ullapool, Dingwall, Garve, Fort Augustus and Mallaig.

The Met Office is also expecting snow in Scotland over the next few weeks.

They said: “Temperatures are average or slightly above average for late October, although we expect to see a slow downward trend in the coming days.

“Overnight temperatures will remain broadly above freezing, although under clear northern skies over the weekend, a frost is possible in prone locations.

“From next week, high pressure is expected to settle into the south of the UK, bringing very good conditions for many, although this could promote some cloudy starts, expect mist and fog in prone locations thanks to clearer skies and light winds.

“In November, passing bands of rain are likely to settle in the north of the country. Although some of this may fall as snow, it will be confined to the Highlands of Scotland, which is expected in late of autumn
