The new iPad Mini is now available to buy worldwide – here’s the price, specs and more

Apple announced the iPad mini on October 15, but the iPad is now available for purchase worldwide, including India. The device is powered by the advanced A17 Pro chip and features Apple Intelligence, a feature designed to enhance the user experience while prioritizing privacy. Known for its compact and ultra-portable design, the iPad mini comes in four colors: blue, purple, star and space gray, making it as stylish as it is functional. The device starts at Rs 49,900 for the 128GB version, double the storage of its predecessor.

Power with A17 Pro chip

The new iPad mini offers a significant performance boost thanks to the A17 Pro chip, which offers faster processing and graphics capabilities. The chip features a 6-core CPU, which provides a 30% increase in CPU performance compared to the previous model, and a 5-core GPU, which improves graphics performance by 25%. Whether users are editing photos, engaging in augmented reality (AR), or playing graphics-heavy games like Zenless Zone Zero, the A17 Pro ensures smoother and faster performance.

iPad mini also supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing for more realistic graphics in games, as well as new tools like dynamic caching and mesh shading for immersive gameplay.

Apple Intelligence and iPadOS 18

One of the key features of the new iPad mini is the integration of Apple Intelligence, a personal assistant system that combines generative models and machine learning to improve productivity. This feature, available through the iPadOS 18 update, offers tools like system-wide writing assistance for correcting, rewriting, and summarizing text in apps like Mail and Notes. Siri has also been improved, now with more intuitive responses and a sleek, redesigned look.

Apple Intelligence also includes capabilities such as creating images using the Freeform app and editing features in Photos that allow users to easily remove distracting objects. These new features are expected to roll out in phases, starting with US English this month.

Improved connectivity and battery life

For users who rely on connectivity, iPad mini comes equipped with Wi-Fi 6E, which offers twice the wireless performance of its predecessor. It’s also 5G compatible for faster internet speeds on the go. The device’s USB-C port is twice as fast as before, making large file transfers quick and easy. Apple claims the iPad mini will last a full day on a single charge, making it a reliable companion for both work and play.

Camera and Apple Pencil Pro

iPad mini’s 12MP wide rear camera delivers vibrant photos and videos with Smart HDR 4 technology. The 12MP Ultra Wide front camera supports Center Stage, ideal for video calling and content creation.

In addition, the new iPad mini is compatible with the Apple Pencil Pro, which introduces advanced features such as switching tools with a press and intuitive haptic feedback. The Apple Pencil Pro can also be attached, charged and stored magnetically to the iPad mini.

Price and availability

With prices starting at Rs 49,900 for the 128GB model, the new iPad mini offers excellent value for those looking for a powerful yet portable tablet. The device is now available for purchase.

Apple’s latest iPad mini aims to cater to a wide range of users, from creative professionals to casual gamers, offering powerful performance and a host of new features packed into a compact design.
