Falcons and Browns trade proposal sends $125 million All-Pro to Atlanta

Falcons and Browns trade proposal sends 5 million All-Pro to Atlanta

The Cleveland Browns have been one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL this season, as Kevin Stefanski’s unit was expected to compete for a playoff spot in a loaded AFC. Instead, the Browns are 1-6 and tied with the New England Patriots for the worst record in the conference.

With the Browns’ season in the water, the team could look to move some of its veteran assets at the Nov. 5 trade deadline. Cleveland has plenty of veterans with trade value around the league, but the player with the most value is Myles Garrett.

If Cleveland is fully committed to a rebuild, dealing Garrett at the deadline could be in the cards, as the veteran could mark a historic upset and give the Browns some relief.

There are plenty of teams that would surrender premium assets for Garrett’s services, and Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay believes the Atlanta Falcons could be one of those teams.

Cleveland already showed a willingness to ship veterans in exchange for draft picks by dealing Amari Cooper to the Buffalo Bills last week. Myles Garrett could be the next domino to fall and there seems to be no shortage of interest in the league’s reigning Defensive Player of the Year.

After a rough 1-3 start, Atlanta’s offense has finally started to click. The unit now ranks No. 7 in total offense and has led the team to three wins in its last four games. However, the defense isn’t playing at the same level and needs the kind of help that only a game-changing talent like Myles Garrett can provide.

Additionally, Kay has put together an intriguing trade package centered around the former No. 1 overall pick who landed in Atlanta for a slew of draft picks and a young player.

In the trade package, the Browns would acquire a 2025 first-round pick, a 2025 fourth-round pick, a 2026 third-round pick, a 2026 fourth-round pick and quarterback Michael Penix Jr. in exchange for Garrett.

While Garrett is one of the best players in football and a generational talent, general manager Andrew Barry should deal the three-time All-Pro if such an offer is on the table.

The Browns are in desperate need of a full-scale rebuild and should focus their attention on adding as much draft capital as possible. This deal does just that and also gives Cleveland a young quarterback with great potential in Michael Penix Jr.

If the Falcons are ready to go in and compete for a Super Bowl, that’s a no-brainer. Garrett is the missing piece for Raheem Morris’ team as Atlanta’s defense struggles to pressure and wear down opposing quarterbacks. The five-time Pro Bowler has posted double-digit sacks in six consecutive seasons and has also totaled more than 70 quarterback pressures each year through 2021.
