They find an overdue Davis County hiker alive

DAVIS COUNTY, Utah – An overdue hiker in Davis County who had not been seen or heard from since Tuesday evening was found alive and safe Wednesday.

Late Tuesday, Wes Whitnah was last reported to be between Thurston Peak and Fernwood Recreation Site. The Davis County Sheriff’s Office said the 64-year-old called his spouse at approximately 7 p.m. Tuesday to say he had walked farther than he expected but was returning.

The communication with her spouse was the last time Whitnah was heard from before Wednesday.

The Davis County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team worked with the Layton City Police Department and the Utah Department of Public Safety in the search for Whitnah.
