Watch: LeBron and Bronny James make NBA history as first father-son duo

LeBron James continues to make NBA history, and he did it again on Tuesday night. This time, his son Bronny took part. LeBron and Bronny officially made league history as the first father-son duo to play together in an NBA game.

LeBron started in the Los Angeles Lakers’ game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, and early reports speculated that Bronny would likely be inserted at some point during the second quarter. With four minutes left in the quarter, first-year coach JJ Redick asked LeBron and Bronny off the bench.

The duo received a standing ovation once they entered the match.

“That moment, being at the scorer’s table together and checking in together, something I’ll never forget,” LeBron told reporters after the game. “No matter how old I get, no matter how much my memory fades as I get older or whatever, I’ll never forget that moment.”

Bronny echoed Lebron’s sentiments.

“Just going to the scorer’s table with my dad, checking in with my dad, it’s a crazy moment that I’ll never forget,” Bronny told TNT Sports after the game.

Bronny didn’t score a point, missing both of his two shots, including a 3-pointer in three minutes on the court. He rebounded offensively and played well on defense, including defending Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards.

“I tried not to focus on everything that was going on around me and I tried to focus on coming in as a rookie and not trying to make a mistake,” Bronny told reporters after the game. “But yeah, I totally felt the energy and I thank Laker Nation for showing support for me and my dad.”

Bronny, the Lakers’ second-round pick (No. 55) in the 2024 NBA draft, is a work in progress, and has said he’s OK with playing in the G-League during the season.
