Madera police arrest man after DUI crash, find drugs and loaded gun

Gerardo Renteria, 21, was arrested early Monday after crashing his car while driving under the influence, according to the Madera Police Department.

Officers were called to Elm Street, near Santa Fe Street, where they found Renteria next to his vehicle after it crashed into a parked car.

Police said Renteria’s breathalyzer test showed he was nearly twice the legal alcohol limit of 0.08.

During the search, officers found a loaded gun, a large amount of cash and drugs they believe were intended for sale.

According to authorities, Renteria was arrested and booked into the Madera County Jail on multiple charges, including DUI and possession with intent to sell.
