Tamil Nadu: Woman dragged several meters during chain grab bid in Madurai – Tamil Nadu News

A woman was violently dragged several meters during an attempted chain robbery in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. The incident was caught on camera.

The incident took place on Sunday when Manjula and her husband, Dwaraknath, residents of Panthadi, were doing Diwali shopping in Mattuthavani.

When Dwaraknath stopped his vehicle on the side of the road, two men on a Yamaha R15 motorcycle approached the couple from behind. The assailants targeted Manjula, trying to snatch the chain from her neck.

CCTV footage revealed the terrifying sequence of events. As Dwarkanath parked his vehicle, Manjula was in the process of getting off the bike when the men made their move. The sitting man tried to snatch Manjula’s chain. The chain did not break immediately, causing her to fall and be dragged several meters by the bicycle at high speed.

Eventually the chain broke, one part fell into the hands of the guilty and the other remained with Manjula.

The police registered a case and started an investigation into the incident. Authorities are working to identify and arrest the suspects.
