I kicked my mother out of my wedding – she did something shocking and unforgivable

She brought “something old.”

A groom’s mother crossed an unspeakable line by bringing her son’s ex-girlfriend as a bestie on their wedding day, insisting they should get back together as real ‘soul mates’.

The cringe-worthy story, recently posted on Reddit by the 30-year-old, revealed that the newlywed mom “never really liked” his 29-year-old wife, June.

“The main (reason) was the fact that June didn’t let my mom push her around. She kept firm boundaries, which I really admired, and even helped me do the same,” she wrote.

“My mom hated that, calling June controlling and wishing I hadn’t broken up with my previous girlfriend Margo, who my mom loved,” he recalled. “I was with Margo for 5 years and it was horrible.”

He described Margo as “very controlling and manipulative” and as someone who used a lot of guilt to push him into things he didn’t agree with. It was only from supportive friends and her sister that she found the courage to leave her.

While the man admitted that his “life has gotten better since then,” that wasn’t good enough for his beloved mother, though she kept a strong poker face, right up until the nuptials.

“When June and I announced our engagement, my mom wasn’t freaked out, which was weird considering my mom hates June,” she added, noting that her parents later separated from the university and were given their respective plus ones for the big day.

Of course, he assumed that the invitation to the little ceremony of loved ones would go to their spouses.

“After the ceremony, June and I went to take pictures and then we met up with everyone we invited at the reception, which was pretty big,” she wrote.

“When we got there, my sister and June’s best friend/bridesmaid ran to us in a panic. Before they said anything, I saw it. My mother was at the table with my father, my father’s wife and Margo.”

The well-composed bride kept her new husband calm but still took drastic measures during the heated moment.

“I walked over, pulled them both aside and just told them to go away,” the boyfriend claimed.

“My mom tried to explain that Margo and I are soul mates and June is on the path to true love, but I wasn’t listening. I didn’t care.”

Although the man put things out of his mind for the short term, when he returned from his honeymoon he was inundated with “hundreds of text messages from various family members”.

“Some think he might have ignored Margo and didn’t have to ‘freak out,'” he said.

“Some others, including my dad, think I should have kicked Margo and let my mom stay, but after the stunt my mom pulled, I didn’t want her there either.” .

And, as the groom began to “guess himself”, readers gathered in his corner.

“Why are you expected to keep the peace when your mother disrespected you and your wife on your wedding day?” one person wrote.

“She was cruel in her comments about your wife. This warrants NO CONTACT,” wrote another.

“The reason mom liked Margo is because she and Margo are so similar. She sees June as a threat to her control,” added a third.
