‘I ran into a couple of crooks’: Jake E. Lee reveals more about Las Vegas incident that led to his shooting

Ozzy Osbourne’s former guitarist Jake E. Lee has revealed more details about the Las Vegas incident last week that left him with three gunshot wounds.

Posting on the Red Dragon Poster Facebook page, Lee wrote: “Thanks again for all your concern. A quick update: back home on the mend. Big thanks to Sunrise Hospital for having me so cure. And some brief details about that night.

“Walking home from our walk, Coco (Lee’s dog) and I crossed paths with a couple of thieves. Dressed darkly, hooded sweatshirts pulled down their faces and masks over their mouths. Standing in the entry of a neighbor looking at his motorcycle.There was a verbal confrontation that ended with an agreement that I would walk one way and they would walk the other.

“I’ll probably talk about it in more detail later, but right now I can only comfortably do it a little bit at a time.”

Three days ago, Lee revealed more about his injuries.

“They shot me three times,” he wrote. “I was coming home from walking my dog Coco (I didn’t name him, so don’t!) I don’t want to go into details now, I’m tired, but I feel relatively very lucky. The police found 15 carcasses in the scene meaning it emptied my clip I could only dodge so one bullet went through my forearm one through my foot and one in my back which broke a rib and damaged a lung.

“The priority now is to keep draining my lung until I’m done crying. Then we can get that tube out and focus on the minor injuries. And by the way, Coco is fine and appreciates your inquiries!”

Lee was hired by Ozzy Osbourne in 1982 as a full-time replacement for Randy Roads after brief stints by Bernie Torme and Night Ranger guitarist Brad Gillis. After playing in 1983 Bark on the Moon and 1986 The ultimate sin was fired in 1987. He would perform with Badlands, Wicked Alliance, Mickey Ratt, Enuff Z’Nuff and, after a 15-year silence, with Red Dragon Cartel, whose last album, patinawas launched in 2018.
