MnTC opens new treatment center in Alexandria on October 14 – Alexandria Echo Press

ALEXANDRIA — Minnesota Adult & Teen Challenge has announced its new residential treatment facility in Alexandria, which opened on October 14th.

The 50,000-square-foot, 74-bed building, located along Lake Winona at 525 Willow Dr., enhances the addiction recovery landscape in the region.

The property offers stunning views of the lake and offers those undergoing treatment a peaceful haven for healing. Additional features include bedroom suites and a new chapel with a bespoke backlit cross built into the windows. The new building was paid for entirely thanks to funding from MnTC donors.

“We are thrilled to bring MnTC’s life-changing services to a community that has supported us immensely over the past several decades,” Tom Truszinski, MnTC CEO, said in a press release. “Our dream of serving the people of this region is now a reality thanks to the incredible generosity of this community, our donors and the partnership with the City of Alexandria.”

Douglas and Crow Wing counties refer more clients to MnTC than any other county in Greater Minnesota. MnTC also opened a new women’s treatment center in Brainerd earlier this year, offering substance use treatment and mental health services that address the unique needs of women in Greater Minnesota.

“There is an urgent need for addiction and mental health treatment in the state, and we appreciate the support of the Alexandria community in responding to these needs,” said MnTC Regional Director Sam Anderson in a press release. “Our exceptional staff is ready to serve, and we look forward to continuing to grow and provide high-quality, personalized care to people in recovery.”

As regional director, Anderson will oversee MnTC’s Alexandria and Brainerd treatment centers. Featured staff at the new Alexandria facility include Customer Service Manager Stewart Blank, a graduate of MnTC Brainerd.

Nor-Son Construction opened the new facility in 2022 following architectural design by Station 19 Architects. The site was identified with the help of MnTC donors Vern and Judy Anderson, as well as Tim and Jean Ferguson.

Echo Press staff report

From time to time, our newsroom reports stories under a “personal” designation. The “staff” name is often used when rewriting basic news that comes from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and that requires little or no reporting. Sometimes this lead is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from multiple sources. If external sources are used, it is noted within the story.
