Andrew Garfield reveals how Jessica Chastain helped him visit his dying mother

Andrew Garfield has opened up about how Jessica Chastain helped him through a personal tragedy.

“What was amazing was that (David Greenbaum of Searchlight Pictures) and Jessica rearranged the schedule at the last minute — they suspended filming (in North Carolina) for a few days so I could go back (to England) and be with my mom. for 10 days,” Garfield recalled in a new interview with PEOPLE.

The actor also remembered as another Tammy Faye co-star Vincent D’Onofrio encouraged him to see his mother during this time. “Because he had his own experience with a loss that he wasn’t able to recover from, he said, ‘Go. You have to go,'” Garfield recalled. “And I said, ‘Well, I know I have to go and thank you.'”

“It’s actually okay to miss someone,” Garfield told the red Muppet. “It’s a lovely thing to feel, in a way, because it means you really loved someone when you miss them. He continued, “When I miss her, I remember it’s because she made me so happy. So I can celebrate her and miss her at the same time.”
