Yahya Sinwar’s wife spotted with Birkin bag in Gaza tunnels: report

The wife of Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar was reportedly seen fleeing into a Gaza tunnel with a $32,000 Birkin bag hours before the Oct. 7 massacre, Israeli officials said.

Sinwar, 61, and his wife Abu Zamar, carrying what appears to be a luxury Hermes bag, can be seen helping their two young children through the bunker’s narrow corridor at 10:45 p.m. Oct. 6, 2023, time-stamped images released by the Israel Defense Forces are shown Saturday.

“Although the residents of Gaza do not have money for food, we see many examples of Yahya Sinwar and his wife’s special love for money,” said IDF spokesman Avichay Adraee. he wrote Xalongside a screenshot of the woman holding what appeared to be a expensive black leather bag.

“Sinwar’s wife entered the tunnel with him on October 6 carrying a Birkin bag estimated to cost around $32,000?!” Adraee wrote.

The Birkin is loved by celebrities and billionaires alike, and everyone from the Kardashians to Melania Trump have been spotted with similar black leather handbags.

The October 7 mastermind married Abu Zamar in 2011 just weeks after being released from an Israeli prison following a prisoner swap.

Footage shows Sinwar, the mastermind behind the October 7 attacks, making several trips through the tunnel to retrieve belongings, packs of water bottles and pillows.

The video was discovered a few months ago by Israeli forces.

The IDF had been hunting Sinwar since the October 7, 2023 attacks, and finally killed the leader on Wednesday. Soldiers discovered his body while sifting through debris following an airstrike in Tel al-Sultan.

Sinwar had an estimated net worth of three billion dollars and was found with $10,000 in cash and an identification for a United Nations Labor and Relations Agency (UNRWA) teacher on his body after his death.

Mocking replies flooded under Adraee’s post, according to the Jerusalem Post.

“I didn’t know people in open air prisons used Birkin bags,” one person wrote.

After Sinwar’s murder, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his death would mark a turning point in the year-long war between Israel and Hamas. Hamas officials, however, have said the death will only make the group stronger.
