The report reveals that the women of Mo. they continue to earn less than men

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A new report released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has revealed that while Missouri women have historically earned more than ever before, they still don’t earn as much as men in the same position.

On Friday, Oct. 19, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released its report on women’s earnings in Missouri for 2023. It found that women who work full-time in the Show-Me State they earn an average of $175 less per week than their male counterparts.

Deputy Regional Operations Commissioner Michael Hirniak noted that between 2022 and 2023, the ratio of earnings between women and men increased from 79.5% to 83.9%. That means women earned $1,005 a week, 83.6% of the $1,202 average for men.

The Bureau indicated that between 2000 and 2023, the female-to-male earnings ratio rose from 73.5% to 83.9%. Among the 50 states, women’s earnings were lowest in Louisiana and highest in Washington, D.C. California had the second highest female-to-male earnings ratio at 89.9%.

Analysts revealed that of Missouri’s 2.3 million workers, approximately 1.05 million are women and 1.25 million are men.
