Inspection in the tropics

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – After a brief lull in activity, the tropics are back in action. As of Saturday, there are two named storms in the Atlantic basin.

Tropical Storm Nadine

Nadine made landfall as a tropical storm Saturday morning in Belize. It is likely to accelerate and strengthen as it moves inland. Localized flash flooding and heavy rain are expected as it passes through Central America.

Hurricane Oscar

Earlier, Tropical Storm Oscar became a hurricane early Saturday afternoon. It is bringing hurricane conditions to the Bahamas and surrounding areas and is expected to continue doing so through the weekend. A dangerous storm surge is also forecast for the Turks and Caicos Islands.

None of these storms are of concern in the Brazos Valley, and we will continue to calmly keep you updated as we continue through the Atlantic hurricane season.
