Liam Payne’s ex-girlfriend Danielle Peazer struggles to ‘face reality’ as she breaks silence following star’s tragic death

LIAM Payne’s ex-girlfriend Danielle Peazer has broken her silence following the singer’s untimely death.

The One Direction star, 31, tragically fell to his death from the third floor of his Buenos Aires hotel on Wednesday.

And now his former partner Danielle has revealed that she is not “mentally strong enough to face the reality of what has happened”.

After dating on and off from 2010 to 2012, she posted a tribute to Liam on Instagram on Saturday.

The model wrote: “In time I will share more, but right now I don’t feel strong enough mentally to face the reality of what has happened,” explaining that it had taken the last few days to come to terms with the news of the death of star .

Danielle described it as a “heartbreaking time”, adding that negative comments from nasty trolls had made the last few days even more difficult.

She wrote: “Like all of us, I’m grieving and need some private time.

“It’s a heartbreaking time, already made much more difficult by receiving negative and uninformed comments as well as preconceived judgment from those who don’t know me, Liam personally or anything about our relationship during the last 14 years.

“I’ll be back soon when I’m ready, but until then please take care of each other.”

Danielle acknowledged the negative abuse she received, but also expressed gratitude for the encouraging words she received in the messages.

The model said: “Thank you to anyone who has taken the time to call, text or email with condolences and support.

“I’m so grateful and it’s helped me more than you know.”

Since they met in 2010 on The X Factor, Danielle, who is currently in a relationship and has a daughter named Mia with Sonny Jay, dated Liam on and off.

They were believed to have a brief reconciliation in 2022 after their split in 2012.

In an interview in October 2012, Liam admitted that his break-up with Danielle had left him “devastated”.

Danielle’s statement comes shortly after Liam’s sister posted a heartbreaking tribute to her ‘best friend’ following his tragic death.

The One Direction singer’s sister Ruth Gibbins posted a lengthy testimonial on her Instagram page, including a message aimed directly at the Little Things singer where she said: “I’m sorry I couldn’t save you” .

Ruth, 33, recalled their happy memories together in the message, before uploading a series of bittersweet pictures showing their strong bond.

In his emotional message – which came after Liam, 31, died in Argentina – he also addressed the father-of-one’s seven-year-old son Bear, who he shares with the pop star Cheryl, and insisted “we’ll take care of him.”

Ruth wrote: “I don’t think this is happening. I have poured my heart out publicly many times with pride for Liam, but never about life as his sister.

“Liam is my best friend, no one could make me laugh as much as him, doing his impressions always made me cringe and he loved seeing how he could laugh.

“He moved away when he was 17 to pursue his dreams, that’s what forced me to finally pass my driving test during the weeks of the factor live show because I couldn’t bear the thought of not being able to to him

“I regularly drove over to have tea with him after work, just to sit down. One month the hotel was next to a Wagamama and I swear he had it morning, noon and night!”

In a very personal and touching moment, Ruth shared with her followers a list of ‘notes on my phone of things to say to Liam’.

He then went on to write a heartbreaking tribute to his younger brother.

Meanwhile, Liam’s grieving father is trying to get his son’s body back home to the UK as soon as possible to lay him to rest.

The singer’s loved ones desperately flew to South America on Wednesday night just hours after learning the heartbreaking news.

Footage taken outside the Casa Sur hotel on Friday showed a somber Geoff Payne crouched down to read messages written to his son.

The anguished, bleary-eyed dad waved to Liam’s fans as he watched the emotional display.

Dressed in a dark suit with his hands clasped in front of him, Geoff was protected by police and security from dozens of fans and journalists.

“I lost a brother when you left us and I can’t tell you what I would give to give you one last hug and say goodbye properly.
