Ipswich Fight Night – Suffolk boxers enter the ring for a professional event

Gideon Onyenani, 25, who also goes by Gideon Jonas, similar to Tierney, works out at the Grange Fitness and Performance Centre.

Although he is an experienced boxer, he has spent some time away from the sport due to his job as a paratrooper in the army.

“Being a paratrooper, your fitness is important,” he said when asked if he was ready for his fight,

“I know I’m physically fit, but it’s different when you get in the boxing ring.

“I’ve done the rounds, I’ve done sparring, so I’m confident, but there’s a difference between sparring and real fighting.

“I’m excited to see how I do.”

Onyenani said he felt a “part of history” fighting in the city’s first professional boxing event in five years.

He added that people could expect to see “pressure and strength” from him in the ring.
