Family resumes search for missing Fort Worth woman eight years after disappearance – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Typhenie Johnson’s recordings and camera rolls full of photos are how loved ones keep her memory alive eight years after the 25-year-old disappeared.

“We know as much now as we did from the beginning,” Deborah Johnson said.

Johnson has lost count of how many times search parties have been organized for her daughter.

In October 2016, shortly after Typhenie disappeared from her Fort Worth apartment, searches were frequent and filled with volunteers.

Then, in 2019, a jury found Typhenie’s ex-boyfriend Christopher Revill guilty of kidnapping her.

When the trial ended, loved ones say many seemed to forget she was still missing, but remained desperate for answers.

“There’s a hole in my heart that can’t be healed until they find her. You know, I can’t go to a grave, you know, talk to her, celebrate her birthday or anything. There’s just nothing.” Johnson said.

On the eighth anniversary of Typhenie’s disappearance, her sister Kiesha Crouse and aunt Janelle Hofeldt have joined Johnson in Texas to search again.

“We’re basically searching again. We did two hours today and we’re going out again tomorrow. We’ve got another small team. We’re starting at eight. We’re going to meet together and go through everything we went through,” Hofeldt said.

That includes an area along South Hughes Avenue near East Rosedale Street where human remains were found last summer and identified as Taalibah Islam, another ex-girlfriend of Revill’s who disappeared 10 years before Typhenie.

It’s a clue. Still, the women hold out hope that Typhenie had a different fate.

“I don’t like the word ‘was.’ To me, it’s past. The word is ‘is.’ She’s a perfect, beautiful young woman,” Hofeldt said.

So they continue to share their story and fight for answers.

“When do we close?” Johnson asked.

The family is updating a Facebook group for those interested in the search.

They welcome volunteers to join them on Saturday morning. Those interested should meet between 8:00 and 8:30 am at 5100 Endicott Avenue in Fort Worth. They are asked to wear closed shoes and pants and to bring ID, hat, walking stick and water.

There is currently a $30,000 reward for information on Typhenie’s whereabouts. Anyone with information is asked to call Fort Worth police.
