MTA adds trains for oyster eaters and leaf lovers over the weekend

The MTA is boosting weekend train service to accommodate an expected increase in the number of leaf peepers and oyster lovers heading out of town this weekend.

The 41st annual Oyster Fest expects thousands more to take the train to Oyster Bay, Long Island. There you will find oyster shucking, oyster eating contests, live music and craft beer.

The LIRR is adding three extra trains in each direction on Saturday and Sunday.

Metro North is also expecting crowds for near-perfect weather and an imminent burst of foliage.

The MTA is adding two more round-trip trains that cross the Hudson River that run every 30 minutes.

The agency says the addition means it is running more trains than ever before on its weekend service.
