The icing on the cake of Prince William’s latest engagement may have been his take on Kate Middleton’s favorite dessert.

The Prince of Wales, 42, visited Duchy College Stoke Climsland in Cornwall on October 17 to learn more about the college’s programs for young people from rural areas, and made the revelation during a stop to a student-run cafeteria.

The video shared on the Prince and Princess of Wales’ X account shows the heir to the throne walking into Sam’s Cafe and chatting with people behind the counter, where dessert was the subject of discussion.

according to hi!chef Darren Watson said he learned from his research that Princess Kate’s favorite sweet is sticky toffee pudding, which Prince William verified and said: “Very good.”

Kate’s favorite dessert is a timeless classic – a traditional British treat that can be relatively easy to make.

Watson researched the royal family’s favorite desserts ahead of the prince’s visit and treated him to a chilled breakfast cake, said to be a favorite of both William and his grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth.

After accepting the cake, Prince William said: “Thank you so much, that’s very sweet of you, any kind of sweet I take, I’m a fan of anything chocolate and anything sweet.”

hi! reports that the cake was the same recipe as the one served at William and Kate’s wedding in 2011. It’s a little-known fact that the couple had two cakes served at their royal wedding: an eight-tiered fruit cake that it was so big that the door had to be removed to fit the Buckingham Palace picture gallery and a chocolate chip cookie cake that was a childhood favorite of William’s.
