Wife Has Very Unfiltered Reaction to Roommate’s New Haircut: ‘Oh My God’

A woman has gone viral after her friend’s incredible reaction to her new haircut showed their strong friendship.

Autumn Coelho, 22, recorded the moment she revealed her surprise haircut to her flatmate and best friend Chloe Smith, and ended up capturing a beautiful moment that prompted thousands to comment on their friendship .

Coelho said Newsweek who has had very long hair for over a decade, and many of her friends have “never seen me with short hair.” After going through a difficult breakup around her birthday in September, Coelho saw several videos online suggesting that “hair contains memories” and “hair contains trauma.”

After “everything I’ve been through,” Coelho decided now was the time: “I thought maybe I could cut out the negativity and cut all my hair off,” he said.

“I didn’t tell my best friend/roommate that I was going to do this, and she was coming home late from work that night, so I waited for her to get home and recorded her reaction to the new cut” . Coelho added: “It definitely did not disappoint.”

And TikTok users agreed, as Coelho’s video has nearly 10 million views and over 1.3 million likes since it was shared on his @autumncoelho account on 9 October

Smith, 21, walks in the door with another friend, catching a glimpse of Coelho’s haircut, and immediately exclaims, “Oh my God! You look great!”

Approaching, shouting and apparently unaware that Coelho is recording, she says, “Like I’m not in love with you!”

The short but sweet clip really resonated with viewers, with one commenter writing: “This is why marriage is so often a disappointment… because our friendships have set the bar SO high.”

Another wrote: “Taking notes to know what to say to my wife,” while one posted: “I need a friend like her.”

“I want her on my team,” agreed another, and as one commented, “Where can I get one of her?”

Adult friendships in America have changed over the years. According to Statista data, a 1990 survey found that only 3% of respondents said they had no close friends; 16 percent said they had five close friends; and 33 percent said they had 10 or more people they considered close friends.

In 2021, a survey asking the same questions found that 12 percent of adult respondents did not believe they had any close friends, and only 13 percent considered themselves to have 10 or more close friends.

Coelho said, “When I posted the video, I definitely didn’t expect it to go viral and get as much attention as it did.”

Server Coelho, who works with Smith at the same restaurant, added that she was “incredibly grateful for all the love and positivity on the post and in the comments.”
