A popular west Belfast pub has announced it has new owners as well as a new management team for its bar.

McEnaney’s Bar on the Glen Road announced to X that Anthony and Lisa Donnelly, who are from the area, are the new owners of the century-old establishment.

The duo are described as having a “new vision” for the location, which is characteristic of west Belfast.

The bar, which is known locally as the Gravediggers Bar “due to its proximity to Milltown Cemetery”, is now managed by Sean Shivers.

PG Media’s Gerard Mulhern said a “special addition” to the pub would be announced at an opening event next week.

Mulhern added that McEnaney’s has seen “a lot of changes” in recent months, including investment in new TVs, drink offerings and live music performances.

The pub opened in 1908 and is proud of its links with Milltown Cemetery.

He describes the bar as “filled with people from all walks of life and all walks of life.”

“It’s full of artists, painters, musicians, craftsmen, footballers, hurlers, doctors, nurses, all of whom have helped make Belfast the city it is today.”
