Liam Payne dead last: Niall Horan pays tribute to Liam Payne as Zayn Malik reveals he ‘butted heads’ with bandmate in emotional statement | Entities & Arts News

Now we’ve had tributes from all the members of One Direction individually, after the band released a joint statement last night.

In the statement, the stars said they were “completely devastated” and wanted time to “grieve and process the loss of our brother.”

Here’s what they said in their personal statements…

Harry Styles

The As It Was singer said he would “always” miss his “lovely friend”.

“His greatest joy was making other people happy and it was an honor to be by his side while he was doing that,” she said.

Styles continued, “He was warm, supportive and incredibly loving. The years we spent together will forever be among the most cherished years of my life.”

Zayn Malik

“Liam, I found myself talking out loud to you, hoping you could hear me, I can’t help but selfishly think there were so many more conversations for us in our lives,” Malik wrote on Instagram.

He said he “never had to thank” his friend for “supporting me through some of the hardest times in my life.”

“When I was missing home as a 17-year-old boy, you would always be there with a positive look and a reassuring smile and let me know that you were my friend and that you loved me,” he said.

Malik and Payne had clashed at times, and the Pillowtalk singer referenced this in his statement, but said he “secretly respected” his bandmate when they “butted heads”.

Niall Horan

Horan had seen Payne only a few days before his death.

The Irish singer had been performing in Argentina and Payne had accompanied him to support the shows.

“I feel so lucky to have been able to see him recently,” she said.

“Sadly, I didn’t know that after I said goodbye and hugged him that night, I would say goodbye forever. It’s heartbreaking.”

He said he was “absolutely devastated” by Payne’s death.

Louis Tomlinson

The star paid tribute to Payne as the “most vital part of One Direction”.

He made a heartbreaking mention of Payne’s seven-year-old son Bear, saying that if the boy needed him “I’ll be the uncle he needs in his life and tell him stories about how amazing his dad was.”

“I wish I had the chance to say goodbye and tell you one more time how much I loved you,” he said.
