Louis Tomlinson wrote a heartbreaking tribute Liam Payne a day after his death. While sharing an Instagram photo of them together, the former One Direction member called the late 31-year-old English singer a “brother” and credited him for “forming” the band.

“I’m beyond devastated to write this but I lost a brother yesterday,” Louis wrote in his caption on Thursday, October 17. “Liam was someone I loved every day, such a positive, funny and kind soul. I first met Liam when he was 16 and I was 18, I was instantly blown away by his voice, but what more importantly with the passage of time I had the opportunity to see the kind brother I had longed for all my life.

Louis added that Liam “was an amazing songwriter with a great sense of melody” and noted that they “often talked about going back into the studio together to try and recreate the writing chemistry (that) they had built up in the band “.

“And for the record, Liam was, in my opinion, the most vital part of One Direction,” the “What Makes You Beautiful” singer continued. “His experience since childhood, his perfect pitch, his stage presence, his gift for writing. The list goes on. Thanks for shaping us, Liam.”

As Louis concluded his statement, he wanted to send a “message” directly to Liam, which was that he feels “beyond lucky to have (Liam) in (his) life, but (he’s) really struggling with the idea of ​​saying ‘goodbye.’”

Louis ended his tribute by referring to Liam’s 7-year-old son, bearthat he shared with his ex Cheryl Cole.
