DKB reacts to backlash after launching ad for Mahama’s 24-hour economy: ‘NDC’s own Dey Pain Me’

Popular Ghanaian comedian Derrick Kobina Bonney popularly known as DKB has reacted to criticism of his recently released video for John Mahama’s campaign.

DKB, one of the Ghanaian stars openly campaigning for Mahama and the NDC, released a skit on the party’s proposed 24-hour economic policy. The scheme was intended as an advertisement to explain the policy to the Ghanaian public.

DKB’s 24-hour economic announcement generates controversy

However, the scheme has drawn widespread criticism from a number of quarters, including notable figures such as Franklin Cudjoe, head of IMANI who described the video as a “very malicious ad”, and questioned whether DKB had been compensated by the NDC for their efforts.

Many others in the NPP including Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko also used the NDC ad, stressing that the 24 hour economy advocates did not even get it.

The NDC quickly distanced itself from the parody in response to the growing controversy. In an official statement, the party advised that anyone wishing to promote NDC policies should seek authorization and guidance from the National Communications Office.

DKB feels betrayed by NDC

Reacting to the reaction and the official position of the NDC, the comedian indicated that he felt betrayed by the party.

In a video shared online, DKB said he was hurt by the party’s press statement, which threw him under the bus. Despite his grief, he still pledged to support Mahama’s campaign.

“The NDC itself hurts me but it’s okay. Posterity will judge us. I still have love for JM and the 24 hour economy,” he said.

DKB pleaded with the NPP people to cease fire saying:

“Please, if you insult the little guy, take a break and drink water. Go to a commercial break. It’s just a skit, I didn’t kill anyone. Just a skit to communicate how I understand the 24-hour economy to people “.

DKB attacks Gisela Amponsah

YEN.com.gh previously reported that DKB was unhappy that influencer Gisela Amponsah criticized her father and called him a demon on the viral podcast Rants Bants Confessions.

The comedic actor opened up about his issues with his father and hinted that even at 38, he didn’t know who he was.

Many Ghanaians also weighed in on Gisela’s hatred of her father, including media personality Captain Smart.
