Man seeking damages in Queens freeway crash fatally struck by passing driver

A 31-year-old man who got out of his car to check for damage after crashing a Jaguar on a Queens freeway was fatally struck by a passing SUV driver, the police

The victim, city sanitation worker Curtis Blocker, was on his way to work when he was killed, his mother told the Daily News.

Blocker was driving a Chevy Spark when he collided with the driver of a Jaguar on the Cross Island Expressway in Bayside around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

When Blocker got out of his vehicle next to Alley Pond Park, near the Long Island Expressway exit, to assess the damage to his car, he was hit by a Nissan Rogue driver.

“(Police) said they were doing an investigation, but he got out of the car and was hit by another car,” said his mother Sandy Blocker. “We’re just waiting for them to finish their investigation and release the body.”

Medics took Blocker to North Shore University Hospital, but he could not be saved. According to police, he lived in Lynbrook, LI.

The 43-year-old driver of the Rogue remained at the scene. He was not immediately charged, but police are still investigating the crash.
