Ex-maid caught after flaunting stolen luxury watch on WhatsApp | Bombay News

Ex-maid flaunts stolen watch in WhatsApp status, seen by head

Bombay: A whatsapp status The message posted by a domestic helper, flaunting a new watch and dress, proved to be her undoing. Both items were missing from the home of a couple I worked for. Seeing his status (update), the couple quickly guessed that he had stolen the items.
Samta Nagar Police Station recorded a case of robbery and they are looking for the accused, Rupali Singh.Police said Singh worked for two years at the Kandivli home of a 35-year-old man and his wife. The couple runs an event management business.
Singh’s job was to clean his 3BHK house and take care of his children. The couple had also hired a cook. On October 7, Singh told his employers that he was quitting to return to his hometown, as his parents had approached court for separation.
On Saturday, the complainant’s wife wanted to wear a new saree for Dasera but could not find it in the cupboard. She then called Singh to ask him where the saree was. Singh told her that he had ironed it and kept it in the cupboard. Despite searching everywhere in the house, the complainant’s wife could not find her.
When he checked the CCTV footage from 9am on October 7, it showed Singh carrying something in his bags from his employer’s house. On Saturday, the complainant’s wife was checking her WhatsApp when she was shocked to see Singh’s status update.
The maid who had resigned wore a watch and dress similar to those belonging to her employer. These items were missing from the house.
The couple then began a thorough search of the house and found that jewellery, a watch, sarees, sunglasses, jeans, a shawl, make-up kit, perfumes, a children’s bag and cash, all missing valued at 2.4 lakh rupees.
The police are now looking for the former maid.
