Lake County traffic stop returns more than 325 fake pills

LAKE COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) – A traffic stop in Lake County ended with a driver being arrested after officers found a plastic bag full of pills.

Deputies say the bag contained 325 blue pills labeled with the markings “M” and “30′.”

The traffic stop occurred on SR 2 near SR 44 in Painesville Township.

The driver was charged with possession of a controlled substance in bulk and tampering with evidence, officials said, and was issued citations for driving while suspended and no operator’s license.

A statement from the sheriff’s office says opioids are one of the most abused and trafficked drugs, but 99 percent of the pills found on the street are fentanyl compounds and other fillers rather than prescription pills.
