Kamala Harris refuses the interview with another prestigious media

Democratic candidate Kamala Harris has declined numerous interviews leading up to Election Day, and now she’s refusing one at an outlet owned by a former Democratic presidential candidate.

It was revealed on Tuesday that the Harris campaign declined an interview offer from Bloomberg News in addition to CNBC and Time Magazine.

The company was founded by former New York mayor and Democratic presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg, who ran in 2020 before dropping out to support Biden.

Donald Trump, meanwhile, participated in a town hall with Bloomberg Editor-in-Chief John Micklethwait at the Economic Club of Chicago on Tuesday afternoon, where he discussed his tariff plans, his relationship with Vladimir Putin and more

Kamala Harris recently gave an interview on 60 Minutes after being accused of not talking to enough media outlets.

The former New York mayor may have angered the Harris campaign by not immediately offering his full support after Biden dropped out this summer. He has yet to endorse Harris.

“Democrats now have a chance for a fresh start,” Bloomberg wrote in X shortly after Biden dropped out of the race in July.

“We don’t need to get a resolution right away, but we do need to get it right,” Bloomberg said. “The decision is too important to rush, because the election is too important to miss.”

The news of Harris’ refusal came during a CNN segment where host Boris Sanchez questioned Harris-Walz campaign spokesman Ian Sams about the vice president’s media appearances.

The CNN anchor began highlighting Harris’ record, mentioning her absence from the Bloomberg event and her recent denials of interviews with Time Magazine and CNBC.

“Now the vice president was invited to appear with (CNBC), but she declined, she also declined to participate in this Bloomberg conversation,” Sanchez said.

“He also turned down an interview with Time Magazine. Declining media hits aren’t really an indicator of mental fitness, are they?’ asked the spokesman.

Sams had previously posted on X that Trump turning down a 60 Minutes interview, and reportedly doing the same to CNBC could be a sign of his “mental acuity.”

The Democratic spokesman then claimed that Harris is not afraid of combative interviews, pointing to his scheduled appearance on Fox News scheduled for Wednesday.

“He’s out there asking questions from really tough corners,” Sams assured the host.

Harris also faces the wrath of Time’s owner after she refused to sit for an interview with the well-known news magazine.

Marc Benioff wrote about his disappointment in X, stating that Time magazine has reached out several times for an interview with the presidential candidate.

“Despite multiple requests, Time has not received an interview with Kamala Harris, unlike any other presidential candidate,” the owner posted on Sunday.

Benioff included a link to interviews Time magazine did with former President Donald Trump and President Biden when he was still running for re-election in 2024.

“We believe in transparency and publish each interview in full,” he added to the publication. “Why doesn’t the vice president engage with the public on the same level?”

A Time article published on October 10 titled What Kind of President Would Kamala Harris Be? notes that the vice president “declined repeated requests to be interviewed for this story.”

“In contrast, Trump discussed his political vision with a Time reporter for 90 minutes across two interviews. Biden spoke to Time in a similar fashion before dropping out of the race,” they added in this article.

The allegation of Harris’ refusal to interview with the magazine comes as CBS News faces intense backlash for favorably editing its 60 Minutes interview with the candidate.

Critics, particularly pro-MAGA social media accounts, have questioned Harris’ media strategy before the election.

The vice president has done some questionable interviews, such as with the raunchy, sex-focused podcast Call Her Daddy.

And he’s turned down some more traditional interviews like Time magazine or legacy TV channels to appear on radio shows like Howard Stern or Charlamagne Tha God, with whom he’ll sit down in Detroit on Tuesday.

But Harris has accepted a few traditional interviews, including on 60 Minutes and CNN, where he appeared alongside running mate and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

Although she declined a Time interview, Harris posted for a photo shoot with Vogue, which published its glowing profile of the vice president on Friday. The magazine revealed a lengthy narrative of what life is like for her since Biden dropped out and took over her campaign.

Harris sat for an interview and participated in a photo shoot with celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz at the vice president’s residence on October 7.

The cover describes Harris as “the candidate of our time” and shows her in a Gabriela Hearst dress and $800 Tiffany earrings.
