The Oscar-winning actress breaks down as she talks about her late co-star. ‘I am full of pain’.

Within the joyful celebration that is the success of 2018’s “Black Panther,” there will always be pain due to Chadwick Boseman’s untimely death. Lupita Nyong’o cried while reminiscing about the film during a Q&A about her career at the BFI London Film Festival, according to Variety .

Organizers played a clip from the 2018 film, and the Academy Award-winning actress got emotional. Nyong’o then informed everyone that she hadn’t seen “Black Panther” since her co-star’s death.

Boseman died of colon cancer in 2020 at the age of 43. Once she recovered, Nyong’o spoke more about what she was feeling.

“I watch this clip and I’m filled with pain, and I don’t know if I’ll ever get over the tears of losing my friend,” she shared. “But I’m like, we get to see him alive. And that’s so wonderful.”

Nyong’o played Nakia in 2018’s “Black Panther” alongside Michael B. Jordan, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke and the late Chadwick Boseman. He would reprise the role in 2022’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” a film that served as a tribute to Boseman.

“Pain is just love,” he said. “There’s no place to put it. You don’t run from the tears or the pain. You just live with it.”

“Black Panther” grossed $1 billion in less than a month.
