iPhone SE 4 Rumor Roundup: Refreshed Design, Camera Features, and Everything We Know

iPhone SE 4 Rumor Roundup: Refreshed Design, Camera Features, and Everything We Know

Apple launched the first iPhone SE series in 2016, to make its smartphones somewhat affordable. Since then, the company has released only three iPhone SEs so far. But rumor has it that the wait is finally over, after two years. According to reports, the iPhone SE 4 will debut in 2025. Although the SE variant is a toned down version, the upcoming iPhone SE 4 is expected to have some high-end features. In a new leak, whistleblower Sonny Dickson posted an image of an Apple case, claiming it to be the iPhone SE 4 case.

In the image, the case resembles the look of the iPhone 8, which hints at the design language of the upcoming phone. Leaked case designs indicate that the iPhone SE 4 will retain a single-camera setup, mirroring its predecessor, the iPhone SE 3. The mute switch and volume buttons also appear to retain their current location. While these similarities suggest continuity, it is essential to note that even small design tweaks could make existing cases incompatible with the new model. Previously, leaks claimed that the iPhone SE 4 would resemble the iPhone 14. But if the latest leak is true, it could mean that the back panel will have an iPhone 8-like design and the display will be herself like the iPhone 14.

In particular, a cutout above the volume controls suggests the presence of a physical mute or mute switch, contradicting speculation about an action button. This could indicate that Apple has opted to retain the traditional switch instead of adopting the action button introduced on the iPhone 15 Pro models.

iPhone SE 4: What we know so far

Display: The iPhone SE 4 is expected to come with a 6.1-inch OLED display, a significant jump from its predecessor’s smaller LCD display. This update brings sharper contrast, deeper blacks and a more immersive viewing experience, aligning the SE closer to Apple’s flagship models. Combined with a sleeker design with minimal bezels, it takes the iPhone 14 aesthetic into account, giving users a more modern feel at an affordable price.

Camera: The iPhone SE 4 is rumored to sport a 48-megapixel primary camera, which is a big step up from the iPhone SE 3’s 12-megapixel shooters. With the possible inclusion of computational photography features, the SE’s camera 4 could be a versatile tool for everyday users who want high-quality photos without spending top dollar on a flagship model.

Chipset: The key update for the upcoming iPhone SE 4. Speculations suggest that the iPhone SE 4 could be the first phone with Apple’s 5G modem. However, multiple reports indicate that Apple’s modem prototypes have encountered multiple technical problems and setbacks. The expected iPhone SE 4 A18 chip and up to 8GB of RAM ensure perfect performance for multitasking, gaming and AI. Backed by Apple Intelligence, it offers advanced features at an affordable price, making it a compelling choice for those looking for flagship-level capabilities without breaking the bank.

Battery: Battery life is also set for an upgrade. Borrowing the iPhone 14’s 3,279mAh battery, the SE 4 promises longer-lasting power, enhanced by its efficient A18 chip and OLED display. This means users can expect all-day battery life, even with heavy use.
