Massive Pokemon leak exposes personal data, never-before-seen lore

Please note that this article contains disturbing content.

Game Freak, the main developer of the Pokémon games, suffered a massive data breach.

Pokemon creator Nintendo confirmed the leak on Sunday, which not only involved a massive amount of personal information, but involved concept art and unused lore stories related to the franchise.

Some of these untold stories are a little disturbing in nature, to put it mildly.

Forbes reports how this supposedly unused lore involves Pokemon like Typhlosion having relationships with humans. With Typhlosion specifically getting involved in a relationship with—and having a child with—a young girl.

Another such story, posted on a subreddit dedicated to Pokemon leaks, involves a man who has relations with the pop Pokemon, Octillery. This adventure also results in a half-Pokémon/half-human hybrid.

The Forbes article itself states how it is unknown who exactly wrote these stories, or why they were included in the files that were released.

According to Nintendo Life, a third party gained unauthorized access to Game Freak’s server earlier this year. This bad actor was able to obtain the names and email addresses of current and former employees, as well as other personal information.

Nintendo Life adds that Pokemon source code, new games, previous projects, and even beta designs were also made public.

IGN states as Game. Freak has apologized to everyone affected by the data breach. They also confirmed that the vulnerability that caused the leak has since been patched.

This is a developing story.
