Bath and Body Works apologizes for candle designed with what looked like KKK hoods

Bath and Body Works has apologized for selling a winter-themed candle that came under scrutiny for label images that drew comparisons to Ku Klux Klan hoods, according to multiple reports.

The candle, called “Snowed In,” features a tag image of a paper snowflake, the diamond shapes of which have a pointed top and two holes cut out, which resemble openings for eyes of a person

Bath and Body Works said the company has stopped selling the candle online and in stores and said in a statement that the design was not intentional, according to reports.

“At Bath and Body Works, we’re committed to listening to our teams and customers, and we’re committed to correcting any mistakes we make, even unintentional ones like this one,” a company spokesperson said in the statement.

“We apologize to anyone we may have offended and are working quickly to remove this item and are evaluating our process going forward,” the statement continued.

The Anti-Defamation League considers the KKK hood image a symbol of hate, CNN reported.

The Hill has contacted Bath and Body Works.
