Amos Kipruto reacts to Chicago Marathon performance as he reflects on injury struggles

Amos Kipruto finished third in the 2024 Chicago Marathon, clocking 2:04:50, marking a strong comeback after battling a knee injury.

Amos Kipruto entered the 2024 edition of the Chicago Marathon hoping to win the race after overcoming a recent struggle with injuries, but was forced to finish third.

His compatriot John Korir took top honors in 2:02:43, while Ethiopia’s Mohamed Huseydin was second in 2:04:39. Amos Kipruto took the podium in the race, clocking 2:04:50 to cross the finish line.

After his recent battle with injuries, his performance at the Chicago Marathon is proof that he is slowly recovering and that he will once again take his due next season. Reacting to his performance, Amos Kipruto expressed his satisfaction with his third place and extended a hand of thanks to his family, fans and everyone who was there to support him.


Daniel Simiu Ebenyo capped off his season with an impressive marathon debut at the Chicago Marathon, finishing fifth in 2:06:04 and has expressed his determination to continue building on his legacy.


He revealed that battling through a knee injury and returning to the podium is indeed a testament and also proceeded to congratulate Ruth Chepng’etich and John Korir for their efforts that saw them claim the men’s and women’s titles and bring glory back to Kenya . .

This season, Amos Kipruto had only raced once, in the 10km Port Gentil where he finished an impressive third. He had a bad run last season, failing to finish the race in the London Marathon and finishing seventh in the Berlin Marathon. He also took the podium in the Bangsaen21 Half Marathon.
