Alia Bhatt has been on a whirlwind tour promoting her latest film Jigra, but fans have been talking about another much-awaited project – Jee Le Zaraa. Announced for 2021, this road buddy film was supposed to bring Alia, Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif together for a Dil Chahta Hai-esque adventure, but the road has been bumpier than expected. Speculations about the film being delayed, especially Priyanka and Katrina’s mutterings, have fans wondering if this ride would ever get out of the garage.

Well, Alia has finally spoken! In an interview with The Lallantop, when asked about Jee Le Zaraa, she didn’t dodge the question like it was a paparazzi ambush. Instead, he admitted, “We haven’t scheduled the shoot. Definitely, today! It’s a movie that everyone (actors, producers, director) wants to happen, but logistically it’s been a bit tricky to get all the dates together.” So it’s less of a “we’re lost” situation and more of a “recalculate route” moment. He assured fans that the intention is very much there to make this cinematic journey happen.

Initially announced with much fanfare on the 20th anniversary of Farhan Akhtar’s iconic Dil Chahta Hai, Jee Le Zaraa was poised to be the female-led road movie we didn’t know we needed. With Farhan returning to the director’s chair after more than a decade, the film was expected to be a mix of friendship, scenic landscapes and (hopefully) some car karaoke.

However, while Jee Le Zaraa has been shelved for now, Farhan hasn’t let the grass grow under his feet – he’s switched gears to his other major project, Don 3, starring Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani. But Alia’s insurance has rekindled hopes that this road trip with her, Priyanka and Katrina will finally hit the highway.

In the meantime, fans can keep daydreaming about what this Jee Le Zaraa escapade will be like: three powerhouse actresses, endless road trip banter and breathtaking locations. Hopefully, it’s just a stop and not the end of the road for this dream project!
