Apple’s unannounced MacBook Pro M4 appears in Russia, confirmed by Mark Gurman

In a surprising turn of events, Apple’s unannounced MacBook Pro M4 appeared in Russia in early October, with several Russian YouTubers showing off the device in unboxing videos. Many had their suspicions about the product since it was the first time since the iPhone 4 arrived Gizmodo after finding in a bar that an Apple device had been compromised like this.

However, the leak was confirmed by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who stated that the retail-ready M4 MacBook Pro units were indeed the real deal. He believes the MacBook Pro leak is even more unexpected, suggesting that the units were likely stolen from Europe before being shipped to Russia, as the tech giant has halted operations in the country.

According to Gurman, Apple’s global logistics strategy is partly responsible for the premature appearance of the devices. In its attempt to make new products available to consumers immediately after launch, Apple has warehouses around the world well in advance. “There are also thousands of unannounced new iMacs and Mac minis – they haven’t appeared on YouTube yet,” he added.

The leaked M4 MacBook Pros, which appeared on Russian YouTube channels, feature 16GB of memory, 10 cores for both central processing and graphics, and packaging that looks a lot like last year’s MacBook Pro M3 . Gurman noted that design changes are minimal aside from the updated M4 chip, which offers a significant increase in performance.

Gurman expects Apple to officially unveil the MacBook Pro M4 in the coming weeks, with retail sales likely to begin around November 1, according to his previous predictions.
